Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Community Paramedicine programs provide care for patients outside of the hospital and clinical setting. These programs provide support for chronic disease management and connections with primary care providers, mental health services, and substance abuse services. Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate and are prepared to take the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) to become a Certified Community Paramedic.

Advanced-level EMS program and Associate of Applied Science degree designed to produce high-quality, entry-level paramedics who can serve the community with advanced life support care via the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards. Students complete minimum 204 hours of clinical rotations and up to 120 hours of field time.

The VCU Health Paramedic Program is a hospital-sponsored training program that has trained nearly 2,000 paramedics over its 40-year history. Courses are non-credit and clinical work occurs at the VCU Health System on the MCV campus.

The Patrick & Henry Community College EMS-Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). The program is also accredited to provide Paramedic training in the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Virginia Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services (VAOEMS).

Department personnel wishing to further their career and education may attend additional training as ALS providers. Paramedic certification training teaches employees to interpret electrocardiograms, deliver cardiac defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion, and administer intravenous lines and life-saving pharmacological treatments. The training program consists of a 16-week course contracted out to Northern Virginia Community College.
