Web-based course with combination of online and classroom portions, along with clinical rotations performed in the field and hospital settings. Prepares students to test for the State credential of Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and the National Registry credential. Also serves as the first section of the AEMT-Paramedic bridge program.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians have additional training beyond that of an EMT and provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. AEMT training includes more invasive procedures than are covered at the EMT level, including IV therapy, the use of advanced airway devices, and advanced assessment skills.

Advanced Life Support training for EMT graduates. Offered twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.

Advanced EMT certification course providing training in advanced airway management, intravenous therapy, medication administration, and limited cardiac monitoring. Currently being reformatted due to accreditation requirement changes.

Builds on knowledge from the EMT course. Students apply advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and medical transportation. Students complete field internship and clinicals in multiple settings.

AEMT students will build upon the foundational knowledge and skills of the EMT to provide a higher level of prehospital patient care. Students will learn advanced patient assessment techniques, pharmacology, intravenous therapy, airway management, and additional hands-on, life-saving interventions used in emergency medical services.

Initial AEMT program meeting or exceeding NCOEMS and National Registry Standards with didactic, field internship, and clinical internship. Prepares entry-level AEMT professionals.

If you're already an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), our Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification allows you to expand your skills in intravenous (IV) therapy, medication administration, and advanced airway management. This course prepares you for the National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT-AEMT) exam and state licensure.

Advanced EMTs assess and provide advanced emergency medical care including airway management, intravenous access, and medication administration to patients at the scene of a medical emergency and during transport to medical facilities. The AEMT course is approximately 300 hours and consists of lectures, labs, online course work, 48 hours of Hospital Clinical time and 48 hours of EMS Field time.

Students build upon foundational EMT knowledge and skills to provide a higher level of prehospital patient care. Includes advanced patient assessment techniques, pharmacology, intravenous therapy, airway management, and additional hands-on life-saving interventions.

Standalone continuing education program that builds on EMT skills. Prepares students to deliver both basic and advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critically ill or injured patients.

Designed for current EMT basic personnel wanting to progress to the advanced emergency medical technician level. Meets two nights a week and one Saturday a month.

Bridges EMT certification to Advanced EMT level following North Carolina curriculum. Provides basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation.

Advanced EMTs assess urgent patient needs and stabilize conditions until definitive care is received. Treatment includes advanced life support, advanced patient assessment, airway management, pharmacological interventions, and critical decision making. Approximately 268 hours over 3 months.

Prepares Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians who are competent in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains to enter the profession. Requires current NC EMT credential.

Designed to train EMT-Basic to become an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. Covers Advanced Airway Management, Advanced Patient Assessment, Cardiovascular emergencies, IV therapy, and Pharmacology. Successful completion allows students to take the North Carolina Advanced EMT Exam.

A 296-hour course (160 online, 40 skills, and 96 clinical) designed to expand the knowledge of current EMTs in the state of North Carolina.

Program designed to prepare Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians who are competent in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains to enter the profession. Minimum 256 hours as set forth by the North Carolina Office of EMS. Qualified for up to 14 transfer credits at participating institutions.

Provides individuals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to respond and provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. Students are eligible to take state and/or national certification examinations.

A mid-level EMS provider program covering all EMT level skills, advanced airway management, insertion of supraglottic airways or endotracheal tubes, CPAP device usage, initiation of peripheral intravenous therapy, and pharmacological interventions beyond the EMT level.

A non-degree course designed to provide essential information on pre-hospital management techniques appropriate to the Advanced EMT level. Topics meet current credentialing and regulatory guidelines for the Advanced EMT as outlined by the NC Office of EMS.

Designed for individuals who are already an Emergency Medical Technician to advance their knowledge and ability to provide treatment as an EMS Provider. This program is 307 hours which is a combination of classroom, lab, online, clinical internship, and field internship.

Advanced level course consisting of approximately 136 hours of instructor-led didactic, skill and assessment labs, 75 hours of online education, 48 hours of hospital clinical, and 48 hours of EMS field internship. Requires valid EMT credential and AHA CPR certification.
