Initial Emergency Medical Technician certification training

A four-month course meeting twice per week for four hours on Creighton's Omaha campus, combining classroom instruction with real-world clinical experiences to prepare students for the national EMT exam.

The EMT Course prepares students to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. It is designed to instill knowledge necessary for entry-level emergency medical technicians, covering airway management, patient assessment, and the basics of trauma care. The course emphasizes teamwork and quick decision-making skills necessary for effective response in emergency situations.

This EMT Initial Training course runs on Wednesday evenings and Sundays and includes both virtual orientation and intensive in-person sessions. Students will learn a college-level curriculum, requiring self-discipline and independent study, reinforced by practical skills training in class. The course costs $2500, excluding textbook fees, and prepares students for certification testing with the NREMT.
