A semester-long class offered under the auspices of the Connecticut Department of Health, Office of EMS, that fulfills the U.S. DOT National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Basic training. The class meets twice a week throughout the semester and provides extensive didactic instruction as well as skills training and assessments in all aspects of basic life support (BLS) and emergency medical care. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the Connecticut state EMT practical exam followed by the NREMT national written exam.
