An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an emergency responder trained to provide emergency medical care to the critically ill or injured. EMTs provide care in many settings that can include working on an ambulance, in a hospital, or medical office. EMTs can also provide First Responder care as part of their job function as a firefighter, police officer, or some other Public Safety profession. EMTs are trained in entry-level emergency medical care including the critical skills necessary for rapid response, initial patient assessment and treatment, patient immobilization, patient extrication and movement, and transportation. This course includes all the necessary education and skills needed to qualify for the State of Connecticut and National Registry EMT Certification Exam(s).

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the State and National EMT exam. Once certified, students will be eligible to work as an EMT in the State of CT and/or qualify to work in many other states throughout the country.
Class Expectations
EMT students must:
Be at least 16 years old by the last day of class,
Attend all scheduled classes,
Complete all online exams,
Complete the hands-on skill assessment,
Complete 10 hours of clinical ride time on the ambulance,
Possess a great attitude,
Be willing to learn and help all those in need.
