A 6-credit certificate program offering 120 hours of instruction in basic life support. Students learn about acute illnesses, medical emergencies, traumatic emergencies, childbirth, rescue extrication, ambulance operations, splinting techniques, communication and documentation, medical-legal implications, AED/CPR, and basic medications. The program combines classroom lectures with hands-on lab days and prepares students for national and state certification exams.

Includes 12 months of didactics, skills lab sessions, and skills scenario evaluations over the first three semesters, followed by clinical internship with hospital preceptor and field internship with an EMS unit. Prepares students for the highest level of certification for emergency prehospital medical providers.
