The program aims to empower students with an interest in the medical field or first responder work to pursue a career aligned with their strengths and passions.

For City and County of Honolulu employees, the EMT Academy is a work/study training program where employees attend school full-time while receiving full-time pay and benefits, with the City paying all tuition costs and fees.

The Mobile Intensive Care Technician (MICT), also known as Paramedic (EMT-P), program provides 1,250 hours of training over 12 months to prepare students for the licensure exam. Certification as an EMT is a prerequisite. Students who pass the exam receive EMT-P Licensure from the State Board of Medical Examiners.
