Echo Hose Ambulance (EHAC) is a volunteer-led nonprofit EMS provider for the City of Shelton and the surrounding areas. Our training center offers a wide range of classes to help students meet their EMT/EMS certification needs. We also offer community classes in areas like CPR, First Aid, Bleeding Control, Mental Health First Aid and Narcan Administration. Our community training center is available to nonprofit groups in the area looking for a free space to conduct their free community events.

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an emergency responder trained to provide emergency medical care to the critically ill or injured. EMTs are trained in entry-level emergency medical care including those critical skills necessary for rapid response, initial patient assessment and treatment, patient immobilization, patient extrication and movement, and transportation. Patient treatment guidelines are described in local protocols which typically follow both national standards as well as local policies. the safe and timely transport of the patient to the hospital for more definitive care. This 160 plus hour Emergency Medical Technician (EMT- Basic) course includes all the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level. STATE OF CONNECTICUT PRACTICAL EXAM TESTING Special Announcement from OEMS On or about October 15, 2018 OEMS has decided to eliminate the seated spinal immobilization (KED) station. Only five (5) stations will be tested for exams going forward. Going forward, retests will only be available for candidates that have failed 2 stations. If you fail 3 or more stations you will need to retest all 5 stations. Exam Site Information Echo Hose Training Center is an authorized site for Connecticut and NREMT psychomotor (practical) examinations. Tests are usually held on Saturday morning at least twice a month under the direction of the Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services. We are located at 430 Coram Ave Our parking lot is in the rear of the Building Doors open for registration at 7:20 AM Candidates arriving after 7:50 AM will NOT be admitted into the examination and will forfeit their examination fee! There are no refunds for those that do not show up or arrive later than 7:50 am. Testing Fees Full Exam (5 stations): $130.00 Retest Exam (2 stations): $65.00 Registration Payment is non-refundable. Paramedic Refresher Course- ONLINE ONLY (NO CLASS TIME)

This is an NREMT and State of Connecticut approved 60 hour hybrid refresher course. The course is a mix of online coursework, classroom lecture, and applied skills. This course can be used for CME or NREMT recertification. Topics include: anatomy and physiology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, trauma, medical emergencies, EMS operations, OB/GYN & neonatology, pediatrics, pharmacology, and special populations. All recert courses are nationally accredited by CAPCE, the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (formerly CECBEMS), and the state of CT. National Component: 30 Hours The National Component requires Paramedics complete 30 hours of approved continuing education.
