The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMT's, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation. The course is meant for both those students that are new to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) systems and those that have obtained EMR licensure.

A competency-based course featuring hands-on training and skill-building labs. The comprehensive curriculum covers emergency medical systems, anatomy and physiology, trauma and medical emergency management, and real-world EMS operations.

A 110-hour course equips students with essential skills in basic life support and emergency medical care, preparing them for certification through the National Registry of EMTs. The course is evenly divided between lectures and practical skills labs.

The EMT program at Vermont EMS Academy not only prepares students to pass the NREMT certification but provides extensive real-world preparation. It focuses on core competencies required for emergency response, led by experienced instructors who are both teachers and practitioners. The program emphasizes hands-on training to ensure graduates are ready to save lives.

A competency-based program with online didactic/homework (independent study with recorded online lectures), in-person days for hands-on skills, scenarios, and simulated patient encounters, and clinical experience with ride time on ambulances and emergency department patient assessments. Course takes approximately 15 weeks.

Typically a 150-hour course; can lead to national certification and state licensure if affiliated with Vermont EMS Agency. The Emergency Medical Technician provides basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.

Hybrid course that prepares EMT students to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Combines virtual lectures with in-person lab sessions in a competency-based program spanning roughly 18 weeks.

Emergency medical technician course offered through self-directed learning via JB Learning with online lectures, quizzes, and hands-on classroom training. Cost is refunded for those who complete and join LVRS.

Approximately 110 hours in length, dependent upon the content covered, and also involves 10 hours of Emergency Room observation time. Goes beyond EMR course and allows student to become certified EMT-B.

A registered apprenticeship with the Vermont Department of Labor. Apprentices are hired employees paid for all hours at work for required training, clinical experiences, and field training. The program includes orientation, CPR & First Responder training, driver training, approximately 15 weeks of EMT class with independent study homework and in-person class days, ambulance shifts, emergency department clinical time, and field training phases.
