AEMT training in Maine.

This training program is offered in partnership with Southern Maine Community College and is designed to give students, through lecture, laboratory, and clinical experiences, the knowledge and skills needed to provide advanced emergency medical care and transportation for patients who access the emergency medical system. Students will demonstrate proficiency with interventions including patient assessment, airway management, oxygen administration, cardiac arrest management, shock management, medication administration, and emergency care.

AEMT curriculum offered every fall semester, comprised of four college courses totaling 12 credits. The program utilizes online learning platforms, classroom lecture, lab sessions, and clinical. AEMT students complete a minimum of 170 clinical hours in both hospitals and on ambulances. AEMTs provide basic and limited advanced level emergency care in the out-of-hospital setting.

Program designed to prepare students with EMT certification to advance to the Advanced EMT level. Includes studies of cardiac emergencies, emergency resuscitation, pharmacology, medical/legal issues, psychological emergencies, trauma, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and neonatal care.

Designed to prepare trainees for work as an AEMT and build upon EMT foundational knowledge. Covers anatomy and physiology of respiratory and cardiovascular systems, airway assessment and management, recognition and management of shock, and cardiac disorders. Includes clinical experience in Emergency Department, ICU, CCU, OR, and Respiratory Therapy.

200-hour Advanced EMT course conducted in cooperation with York County Community College

Learn basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients accessing the emergency medical system. AEMTs function as part of comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight, performing interventions with basic and advanced equipment typically found in an ambulance.

This program prepares EMTs for the AEMT National Registry exam, fusing online coursework with classroom sessions. Participants engage in extensive self-study, practical skill enhancement, and clinical rotations. Licensed EMTs enhance their competencies, readying themselves for more complex patient care scenarios and emergency situations.

Intermediate Life Support level licensure course for EMTs seeking to advance to AEMT certification. Performs a variety of functions associated with delivery of pre-hospital emergency care.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician course

Fast-paced and comprehensive training that expands on the current training of an EMT. The role of an AEMT is to provide emergency medical care at the advanced life support level.

The AEMT Certificate builds upon EMT skills to prepare students for advanced-level prehospital care. The Fall semester includes lecture and advanced lab sessions; the Spring semester includes a minimum of 180 hours of clinical rotations across hospital and field settings. Students completing all requirements are eligible for the NREMT AEMT exam.
