Yavapai College Emergency Medical Services

Yavapai College offers four paths to prepare students to join the EMS field, including EMT-Basic, Paramedic, Critical Care, and Community Health/Critical Care Paramedic programs. The Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Designed to provide the knowledge, skills and ability to synthesize standard of care and expanded scope of practice with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, ethical and professional behaviors, to practice patient-centered evidence-based paramedicine in the community, clinical, out-of-hospital, and interfacility transport settings.

Prepares experienced providers with advanced training in critical care, transport, flight, and interfacility medicine. Designed for experienced Registered Nurses and paramedics completing critical care certification.

Entry-level emergency response training that provides fundamental knowledge and emergency medical procedures and techniques. Prepares students to become an EMT through relevant coursework and extensive hands-on practical training, clinical work, and prepares for the required Arizona and National Registry EMT exams.

Prepares students for direct entry as paramedics in emergency care, stabilization, and immobilization of victims of illness and injury. Includes recognition and documentation of signs and symptoms, advanced airway techniques, defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing, and preparation for transportation.
