Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

RESA 5 Spokes Class Room

This 72-hour program trains participants in basic emergency care skills necessary during the initial phases of any medical emergency. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of practical skills evaluations and a computer-based cognitive test, with recertification required biennially to affirm skills remain current and effective.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

RESA 5 Spokes Class Room

This 155-hour program meets the National Standards Curriculum for basic EMT care in West Virginia. Candidates complete classroom and clinical training, practical skills testing, and the computer-based National Registry exam. Recertification is required every two years via the National Registry to ensure EMTs maintain necessary competencies to provide basic emergency medical assistance.

RESA 5 Spokes Class Room

Designed for existing EMTs, this program consists of six 4-hour modules to aid recertification through the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. Participants update their skills and knowledge to fulfill recertification requirements, keeping them proficient in emergency medical care according to current professional standards and policies.

Fire Fighter 1

This 120-hour class aligns with NFPA 1001 standards, encompassing fire service fundamentals and hazardous materials response. Participants gain essential skills to respond effectively to fire calls and hazardous incidents. A blended learning format is available, providing flexibility for participants to learn both in-person and online.

Fire Fighter 2

RESA 5 Spokes Class Room

Building on Fire Fighter 1, this 40-hour class meets NFPA 1001 standards for responding to vehicle extrication calls. Participants must have completed Fire Fighter 1 as a prerequisite, ensuring they have foundational skills before engaging in more advanced rescue operations and fire suppression tactics.
