University of Alaska Fairbanks Community & Technical College

UAF CTC offers comprehensive EMS and paramedicine programs including EMT-Basic, Advanced EMT, and an intensive three-semester Paramedic Academy. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and prepares students for National Registry certification and Alaska State Medical Board licensure.

Occupational Endorsement designed to prepare students to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. Includes both EMT-Basic and Advanced EMT coursework for national and State of Alaska certification. Can serve as a stepping stone to the paramedicine associate degree.

Minor designed for anyone who lives and works in a northern climate and wishes to learn to cope with the outdoor Arctic environment. Students who complete this minor earn a State of Alaska EMT I certificate and may prepare to take the FAA written exam for partial fulfillment of private pilot certificate requirements.

Degree completion program combining prerequisite paramedic academy and general education coursework with coursework from the Paramedic Academy. First year includes EMT-basic certification, anatomy and physiology, and general education courses. Upon completion of prerequisites, students are eligible to apply to the Paramedic Academy.

EMT-Basic certification coursework that prepares students for both national and State of Alaska basic EMT certification. Students learn to function as part of a comprehensive EMS response and develop knowledge and skills for patient care and transportation using basic equipment found on an ambulance.

Intensive three-semester program designed to prepare students for work in emergency medical services as a paramedic. Includes classroom education (minimum 500 hours), clinical rotations, and field internship. Prepares students for National Registry Paramedic Exam and Alaska State Medical Board licensure. Final semester includes externship outside Alaska.
