Covers the full scope of knowledge required for EMT-Basic licensure in Missouri. Students learn to assess and treat patients who are sick or injured, respond to emergencies involving children and older adults, assist during childbirth and use lifesaving equipment such as defibrillators. Includes safe patient movement, hazardous materials awareness and the use of specialized EMS equipment. Combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning in hospitals and on ambulances, with a minimum of 60 hours in clinical settings.
