SMTEC is a partnership between Center Line, Fitzgerald, Van Dyke, and Warren Woods school districts providing Career Technical Education (CTE) to high school students. The organization offers high-wage, high-demand career technical courses including Emergency Medical Services training.

Available Programs

Choose from available first responder training programs.

EMR semester focuses on pre-hospital emergency medicine with classroom study and hands-on practical learning. Students become certified in BLS for Healthcare Provider (CPR) and First Aid through the American Heart Association. Upon completion, students can take the Emergency Medical Responder National Registry Exam.

Students receive instruction in pre-hospital and emergency medical training including anatomy and physiology, emergency first aid, bleeding control, shock management, cardiac arrest management, airway management, and patient treatment at accident scenes. Upon completion, students can take the EMT-Basic state-licensing exam.
