The Southern Inyo Fire Protection District provides first-response fire and emergency medical services throughout southeastern Inyo County. Its mission is to protect lives and property across its expansive 1250 square mile coverage area, serving towns like Charleston View, Chicago Valley, and Death Valley Junction.

EMT Training & Certification

Southern Inyo Fire Protection District Headquarters

This program provides 140 hours of training for volunteers to become fully-licensed EMTs. Classes include classroom instruction, physical practice, and online components and typically run for 3 weekends a month over 4 months. Volunteers will also complete ride-alongs with ambulance crews and shadow ER staff, culminating in the National Registry of EMTs’ Test.

Volunteer Firefighter/First Responder Training

Southern Inyo Fire Protection District Headquarters

Volunteers will receive comprehensive training to handle both firefighting and first responder duties. The program covers up to 600 hours of firefighting training and 32 hours of first responder medical training, including CPR and First Aid. Designed to equip volunteers with the skills and confidence needed for emergency situations, training includes online, in-house, and academy components.
