A one-semester Certificate of Proficiency program that prepares students to care for patients at the scene of an accident and while transporting patients by ambulance to the hospital under medical direction. Students learn airway management, CPR, AED, immobilization/splinting, medications, and auto extrication. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the State of Arkansas and National Registry EMT-Basic Practical and Written examinations for certification.

Designed for firefighters, law enforcement officers, and industrial emergency responders who stabilize a victim until the arrival of community EMS providers. Skills taught include CPR, AED, oxygen therapy management, spinal immobilization, and splinting.
