Initial basic emergency care training program following the National Standard Curriculum, concluding with Ohio State Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Emphasis on accurate observations, evaluation of emergency situations, effective communications with the medical network, and high skill proficiency. Serves as a required building block to the Paramedic classes.

Provides theory and skills at the EMT-Paramedic level for managing medical emergencies including patient assessment, medico-legal issues, airway management, fluid therapy and pharmacology, geriatric care and management of respiratory emergencies, assessment and management of cardiac emergencies including rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia treatment modalities as well as assessment and advanced management of trauma. Also includes management of obstetrical, neonatal and pediatric emergencies. In-hospital training and field internship are included. Successful completion includes certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Designed to prepare students for National Registry Testing.
