Introduction to Emergency Medical Care covering medical/legal terminology, roles and responsibilities of an EMT, documentation and communication, anatomy and physiology, lifting and moving techniques, basic and advanced airway management, medical and trauma patient assessments, emergencies and treatments, use of assisted medications and IV maintenance, bleeding control and shock, use of immobilization devices, obstetrical/childbirth and pediatric emergencies, ambulance operations, hazardous materials, mass casualty and triage. Consists of 110 didactic hours, 55 hours of lab, and a minimum of 12 hours and 5 patient contacts.
