Mesa Community College

Mesa Community College is the largest of 10 colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District, serving the East Valley of the Phoenix Metro area for over 40 years. The college offers nationally accredited paramedicine programs including an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Paramedicine, with one of the highest pass rates in Arizona.

A nationally accredited program designed to prepare students to become Paramedics. This program is formal education in paramedicine topics including anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, cardiology, pulmonary, pharmacology, pediatrics, geriatrics, hematology, and toxicology. Paramedicine builds upon EMT education and includes paramedic scope of practice. The AAS Degree is transferable to most in-state Universities.

Designed to provide knowledge, skills and ability to synthesize standard of care and expanded scope of practice with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, and ethical professional behaviors to practice patient-centered evidence-based paramedicine in clinical, out-of-hospital, and inter-facility transport settings. Prepares students for a critical care paramedic credential.

A minimum of 170-250 hours course designed to educate students in assessing patients and determining if any life-threatening injuries or illnesses may be present. Includes skills such as oxygen administration, bag valve mask ventilations, delivery of a newborn, and administration of several medications.

Emphasis on fundamental principles and skills required to provide emergency medical care for the ill or injured. Primary focus is to respond to, assess and triage emergent, urgent, and non-urgent requests for medical care, apply basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and medical transportation.
