Virginia EMT-B (basic) certification course meeting national standards laid out by the U.S. Department of Transportation. 6 months duration with 120 hours of total classroom instruction held at the Fire and Rescue Academy on Tuesday and Thursday nights and Sunday mornings.

Covers ropes and knots, ladders, search and rescue, fire behavior, fire suppression, vehicle extrication, high-rise firefighting, and hazardous material operations. 8 months duration with 300+ hours of classroom and practical instruction.
