This program will prepare the student to be a competent entry-level EMT. Students will be required to complete 36 field internship hours and 24 clinical internship hours. The course emphasizes development of student skills in a patient assessment-based program, recognition of signs and symptoms regarding illness or injury and proper procedures when rendering emergency care.

The Paramedic program follows the current National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The standards prepare the EMT and AEMT for the more advanced scope of practice of the paramedic. Students should plan on attending 12 hours of internship each week throughout the program.
