A two-year registered apprenticeship program combining an 11-week recruit academy (440 hours) with on-the-job training and vocational education. Apprentices receive classroom lectures, hands-on training, EMS skill and protocol orientation, fitness training, and specialized training in rope rescue, water rescue, hazardous materials response, aircraft firefighting, and wildland firefighting. Upon completion, apprentices receive NFPA Firefighter I certification and Journey Level Firefighter status.
