Columbus State Community College - Emergency Medical Services

Columbus State Community College's Emergency Medical Services program offers EMT and Paramedic certificates and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services Technology. The program is CAAHEP accredited and CoAEMSP Letter of Review (LOR) with a 83.3% success rate on the National Registry of EMT Paramedic/State Cognitive Exam.

A two-year degree program that builds on EMS certifications and adds technical electives and general education requirements. Increases job prospects and opens the door to promotions in the public safety field.

The EMT program provides training in essential skills needed to respond to emergency situations and prepares students to take the National and State certification tests. This foundational course is essential for those starting an emergency medical career, and includes both theoretical education and practical skill labs. The course is structured to efficiently guide students through necessary health and safety protocols.

A 7-credit hour initial EMT training course that allows students to become a Nationally Registered and State of Ohio EMT. Offered all three semesters: Autumn, Spring and Summer.

Continuing education courses offered to the EMS/Firefighter communities. Ohio EMT and Paramedic Refresher courses are offered if there is sufficient demand.

The EMT Refresher course is a comprehensive 30-hour program aimed at meeting state and national recertification standards. It covers essential EMT skills and introduces updates on recent medical guidelines, serving as an ideal refresher for current EMTs. The summer session includes intensive weekend classes to accommodate busy schedules and ends with a practical on the last day.

A one-year program consisting of six sequential courses that allows students to become a Nationally Registered and State of Ohio Paramedic. Requires prior EMT certification and completion of EMS 1002 Paramedic Preparation Course. Cohorts begin every Autumn and Spring semester.
