Students learn anatomy and physiology of the airway, respiratory, and circulatory systems; cardiac and respiratory assessments; airway management; mechanical ventilation; AEMT medication administration; and basic and advanced emergency care including resuscitation during transport. The program uses the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards curriculum and includes 150 hours of lab, open lab, lab assignments, and clinical. Successful completion allows graduates to take the Advanced Emergency Medical National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT certification examination and apply for Georgia licensure as an AEMT.
