The Accelerated Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Technical Certificate is comprised of integrated Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT/AEMT) courses offered in an accelerated academy-style program. This 18-hour program offers two certificates and is designed to educate and train students to serve as a vital member of a pre-hospital EMS team. Class size is limited to 12 students with class three days a week and 144 hours of clinical time.

The AEMT certificate program builds on EMT skills, preparing students to provide advanced emergency care and transport. It includes both classroom and clinical training to develop competencies in a range of emergency scenarios. Graduates are prepared for state licensure and various EMS career opportunities.

The AEMT performs emergency medical care to and transports ill and injured persons adhering to the protocols of the service and applicable federal state and local laws, regulations, and statutes. This certificate allows for a state license and is the second level of a three tier program for a pre-hospital emergency medical career. Prerequisites: Tennessee EMT license or National Registry EMT Certification required.

Prepares paramedics competent in cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Builds upon knowledge of credentialed EMTs and AEMTs, covering cardiology, advanced airway management, pharmacology, medication administration, and patient assessment. The Paramedic A.A.S. degree prepares AEMTs to use critical thinking skills to provide medical treatment for patients with illness or injury-related disease. The program is 63 credit hours and is completed over three terms.
