The AEMT program at Chattanooga State includes classroom lectures, hands-on practical skills, and ambulance clinical rotations. Students learn to render advanced and life support in emergencies. Completion qualifies students for National Registry and State AEMT exams, positioned above EMTs and below Paramedics.

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Program includes basic and limited advanced skills focused on the acute management and transportation of critical and emergent patients. AEMT training is a combination of classroom instruction (lectures and hands-on practical skills) plus ambulance clinical experience. Approximately 180 clock hours of classroom instruction with an additional 72-120 clock hours of clinical experience. Classes meet either two 6-hour day sessions per week or three 4-hour night sessions per week.

Paramedics render basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene of their injuries or illness and continue while transporting these patients to the hospital.
