About This Program

EMT Hybrid/Accelerated Initial Certification

Deciding between EMR or EMT, here is some additional information:

  • EMRs Requires a minimum of 60 hours of training, focusing on basic first aid. Typically acts as a first responder (firefighter, police officer) initiating care until an ambulance arrives. Focused on basic life support (BLS), CPR, and initial scene assessment. Minimum age of 14 years old.

  • EMTs Requires a minimum of 150 hours of training, including clinical observation/rides, covering more basic life support skills. Operates as part of an ambulance crew, responsible for patient assessment, care, and transport. Minimum age of 16 years old.

Our Hybrid/Blended Course consists of 150 hours over the course length you have chosen. The online component combined with the hands-on training will meet the minimum requirement of 150 hours. Commitment: Assignments are due every Saturday. You should expect to spend roughly 30–35 hours per week combined online and hands-on.

This Course is designed to equip you with essential skills for providing basic life support in emergencies. Requirements include completion of NIMS 100, 200, and 700, along with CPR certification from AHA BLS, which will be completed during the course. Participants will receive the AAOS Emergency Care for the Sick and Injured, 13th edition, to enhance their learning experience.
