Bates College Emergency Medical Services

Bates EMS is a state-licensed, student-run emergency medical service providing non-transporting first-response care to the Bates College campus and community. Composed of student volunteers licensed at the EMT level or higher in Maine, the service operates 24/7 during the academic year and responds to approximately 150 calls annually.

Intensive EMT certification course taught in April and May on campus by United Training Center. 40 hours per week over five weeks. Provides NREMT certification for students to become licensed EMTs in Maine.

Advanced paramedic training available to dedicated Bates students through partnership with United Ambulance and their training center. Not an ALS service but students can pursue paramedic certification while attending Bates.
