Akron General Paramedic Education Program

The Akron General Paramedic Education Program, part of Cleveland Clinic, provides initial education to emergency medical service professionals to create competent entry-level providers. Accredited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety and CAAHEP, the program was the first hospital-based paramedic program in Ohio and the 72nd nationwide to achieve CAAHEP National Certification in 1991.

Traditional EMT course offered twice yearly (January and August start dates). Classes held Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 6:00 PM-10:00 PM for four months with approximately 200 hours of didactic, clinical, and field internship experience.

Prepares competent entry-level paramedics in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains with exit points at AEMT and/or EMT levels. Classes held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:45 PM-9:30 PM with approximately 900+ hours of didactic, clinical, and field internship. Program offered every fall.
